Not your ordinary cake

I am not your average baker. First of all, I am completely self-taught. Second, I was a nurse before COVID hit. I always had an artistic, creative way about me, but I never really did anything with it. Quarantine gave me the chance to start learning and practicing my skills. My first cakes had their issues to be sure. I am still learning, but with each cake, I get better and better. I have learned to pallet paint flowers and landscapes, pipe roses using specific tips, and even makes characters out of fondant.

Fondant is still a challenge, but it’s a element of cakes that I am determined to master.

Last week I had the opportunity to create a very different cake. She is a modern take on a vintage design. This technique is called Lambeth and can be achieved using parchment paper for guides and a specific frosting tip to get the ribboning specific to the Lambeth technique.

One of my favorites is this 3-piece set from Amazon and it is actually the very same ones I used for this cake. Here is my affiliate link on Amazon for these tips. https://amzn.to/48w2fSD (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.)
